The Department of Aerospace Engineering offers graduate programs in both aerospace engineering and engineering mechanics. The research facilities include labs for experimental work in low-speed aerodynamics, wind engineering, composite material fabrication and testing, and structural materials testing. Students in engineering mechanics use state-of-the-art ultrasonic nondestructive evaluation and have an opportunity to work with diverse projects in the world-renowned Center for Nondestructive Evaluation.

Iowa State was the first in the nation to offer an Agricultural Engineering program in the 20th century. ISU continues to extend the frontiers of knowledge in the 21st century through a strong graduate program in traditional areas of agricultural engineering and the emerging areas of biological engineering. Students join an internationally renowned faculty in fundamental and applied research in the engineering of advanced machinery, animal production systems, environmental stewardship, process engineering and technology, and occupational safety.

A revolution is underway in biotechnology, medicine, and energy, and Iowa State?s Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering is leading the charge.
