Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine boasts a 103-year history of training osteopathic physicians and other medical and clinical professionals. PCOM has trained more than 12,000 osteopathic physicians, and today there are more than 2,400 students studying at the Philadelphia and Georgia branch campuses.
Nearly 65 percent of PCOM DO graduates choose careers in primary care, and students in all of their programs are taught the osteopathic approach to medicine, a method of not just treating symptoms, but also caring for patients as a whole and helping them lead healthier lives. PCOM continues to be innovative in its teaching methods and offers graduate and doctoral programs relevant to todays medical and scientific marketplaces.
PCOM’s academic offerings include the doctor of osteopathic medicine degree, as well as graduate programs in biomedical sciences, physician assistant studies, forensic medicine, organizational development and leadership, and clinical and school psychology. The Georgia Campus opened in 2005, and addresses needs specific to the southern United States including shortages of primary care physicians and other clinicians. In August 2010, PCOM began offering a doctor of pharmacy degree at the Georgia Campus responding to the growing need for pharmacists. In August 2011, the Organizational Development and Leadership program expanded to the Georgia Campus.
PCOM calls upon its rich tradition of excellence in education and leadership to train its students, and once accepted, you become part of the PCOM legacy. PCOM is challenging and the academic training is rigorous. Because PCOM challenges students to meet the highest goals, it pledges its full support in helping students reach those goals. PCOM is dedicated to providing each student with the resources to become a competent and caring professional.
