The CDU Graduate School of Theology develops leaders for the new evangelization through fully online programs that provide the academic and spiritual growth students seek and the flexibility and convenience they need. Students log into their courses at a time that is convenient, allowing them to balance work and family life with graduate study.
CDU offers two 36-credit Master of Arts degree programs:
    • MA (Theology)
    • MA in Theology and Educational Ministry

Three 18-credit Graduate Certificates are offered:
    •    Sacred Scripture
    •    Church History
    •    Certificate for Catholic Educators

CDU’s Master of Arts (MA) in Theology provides online study of theology, moral principles, the sacramental system, spirituality, and the history of the Church. Many students choose the University’s MA as a way to increase their knowledge of the Catholic Faith, as well as to bring that knowledge to their families, careers, and individual lives. CDU’s MA program also provides the academic credentials needed for individuals seeking careers in church work, teaching, religious education, or those preparing for a religious vocation.

Students admitted to CDU’s MA program complete a core curriculum and choose four elective courses. No thesis is required, and the MA in Theology at CDU is offered completely online. The University’s online library provides resources needed for assignments and research and is staffed by a helpful theological librarian who offers support to students.

CDU’s online Master of Arts (MA) in Theology and Educational Ministry fully equips educators, directors of religious education, and catechists for their important role of faith formation in parishes and schools. Students admitted to CDU’s MA in Theology and Educational Ministry program complete a core curriculum, one elective course, a program portfolio and reflection paper, and a practicum.

The MA program at CDU is nationally accredited by the Distance Education Accrediting Commission (DEAC), which is recognized as a national accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education. CDU is a candidate for accreditation with The Higher Learning Commission as well as with the Association of Theological Schools. The university is also certified by the State Council of Higher Education of Virginia (SCHEV).

CDU is dedicated to providing faithful and systematic teachings of Sacred Scripture, the living tradition of the Church, the authentic Magisterium, and the spiritual heritage of the Church Fathers, Doctors, and Saints. CDU students say that CDU is just the right size University to meet their needs. CDU has more students than most theology departments of most major universities--and yet, because theology is all the University teaches, it is small enough for faculty to get to know each student personally. The community-based online student center provides a place for prayer and spiritual support, lively discussion and general conversation, a chapel, and ongoing student support.

The CDU student body reflects a vibrant and growing international learning community, as students enroll from all fifty states in the US and nearly fifty countries worldwide.
