College of Charleston - The Graduate School at the University of Charleston, S.C.

    Dr. Kameelah Martin, Dean

The Graduate School of the University of Charleston, S.C. capitalizes on the clear strengths of its faculty and facilities while focusing on the professional needs of the Charleston community. The master's degree programs and graduate-level certificate programs prepare students to fill important roles in communities as teachers, scholars, environmentalists, historic preservationists, public administrators, and business leaders.

From Day One, students are colleagues. Their ideas are vital to the discussion and their research matters. Students at The Graduate School work closely with the Charleston community and grow from that experience. The intimate scale of its programs and the support of its professors guarantee that.

Faculty focus on students from the moment they enroll to the day they receive their degree. They will help design a program of study that challenges and prepares you for the next step – whether that’s a doctoral program or a professional role.

In addition, the size of The Graduate School's programs fosters a unique camaraderie that you won’t find at a larger institution. Despite the intimate scale, you will enjoy interdisciplinary collaboration not only with fellow University of Charleston, S.C. students, but also with those from The Citadel and Charleston School of Law.

The campus is located in one of the most historic cities in America. Whether you enjoy food, are a lover of history, an avid shopper, an art collector or sports fanatic, there is something within a five-mile radius to satisfy your cravings. Charleston is home to a variety of top tier restaurants and engaging events, including Spoleto Festival USA, the Cooper River Bridge Run, MOJA Arts Festival and Charleston Fashion Week. Charleston is also home to professional soccer, baseball, ice hockey and roller derby teams.

Charleston is not just a hot spot for tourists. It is a dynamic port city that provides a living laboratory for many of our academic programs. Take the time to explore them all.
