Application Requirements

All graduate program applicants are required to have a Bachelor's degree in order to be considered for admission. Application and admission requirements (as well as entry points and admission deadlines) vary by program, and are subject to change. We recommend you visit your program's specific webpage and contact your graduate admission counselor for up-to-date information.

Admission requirements (including priority deadlines) and available start terms for each program can be found below. All graduate programs require the general items listed below. Refer to the sections below the general items for any additional application requirements and deadlines for each of the programs.

If you are applying as a graduate student, you must submit the following information in addition to the application requirements for graduate applicants.

In addition to a completed application for admission, all international applicants must also submit:

  • Transcript Evaluation

All international students must submit original transcripts from his or her foreign university and a transcript evaluation from a NACES credential evaluation member. Visit NACES.org for a list of accredited evaluation agencies.

Original transcripts must be sent directly from the foreign institution or included as part of your official transcript evaluation to be considered official. Please check with your credential evaluator to determine if original transcripts are included with your transcript evaluation.

  • English Language Exam/English Proficiency Requirement

All classroom instruction at Mount Saint Mary’s University is conducted in English. Therefore, international students must possess a minimum English proficiency in order to succeed at the Mount. International students must submit one of the following tests with corresponding minimum scores to be considered for admission.

  • TOEFL: 79 iBT  (Our college CEEB code is 4493.) 
  • IELTS: Band 6.5
  • Duolingo: 100
  • ITEP: 3.8
  • APIEL: 3
  • PTE-A: 54

The exam must have been taken within the last two (2) years from the date you submit your application. Exam scores more than two years old will not be accepted.

Applicants who have obtained a bachelor’s or master’s degree from an institution where English is the primary language of instruction will be exempt from having to take and submit a language exam. If you believe you are exempt, please make sure to communicate this to Office of Graduate Admission.

Additional Application Requirements for the MSN program

  • Applicants must have an RN license and a BSN degree.

Students start this program in the Fall semester. The application deadline is December 1.

Additional Application Requirements for the DPT program

  • GRE
  • 1 additional letter of recommendation
  • Review the prerequisites for the DPT Program

Students may start this program in the Summer, Fall or Spring semesters.
