    LOCK HAVEN, PA

Lock Haven University has been selected for a place on the G.I. Jobs 2010 list of Military Friendly Schools. According to G.I. Jobs, “Schools on the list range from state universities and private colleges to community colleges and trade schools. The common bond is their shared priority of recruiting students with military experience.”

“This list is especially important now because the recently enacted Post-9/11 GI Bill has given veterans virtually unlimited financial means to go to school,” said Rich McCormack, G.I. Jobs publisher. “Veterans can now enroll in any school, provided they’re academically qualified. So schools are clamoring for them like never before. Veterans need a trusted friend to help them decide where to get educated. The Military Friendly Schools list is that trusted friend.”
Criteria for making the Military Friendly Schools list included efforts to recruit and retain military and veteran students, results in recruiting military and veteran students and academic accreditations. Lock Haven University is reaching out to veterans through a collaborative effort with the Clinton County Veterans Affairs Office and Downtown Lock Haven, Inc.

“Veterans need a trusted friend to help them decide where to get educated.”
As part of this collaboration, LHU will offer prospective students the opportunity to meet with the local VA representative, Dave Bower, on campus during their visit to LHU if so desired. In addition, Lock Haven University’s Admissions Office looks favorably upon a veteran’s experience when rendering an admissions decision.

Lock Haven University President Keith T. Miller has said, “Our continuing efforts to assist veterans to meet their educational goals are our way of showing our gratitude for their service to the nation. As we strive to make our campus as welcoming and veteran-friendly as possible, we commend all other institutions who share our commitment to veterans.” He added that Lock Haven University is a proud supporter of the Hometown Hero program.
