Students who enroll in a Master of Engineering degree program draw on their knowledge in areas of study such as science and mathematics to advance in their careers as engineers. The degree program exposes students to the different aspects of engineering, including design, systems analysis, manufacturing, research and development. Depending on the school, students may have the opportunity to focus their studies in one specific field, such as aerospace, architectural, chemical, electrical, environmental, mining or nuclear engineering. A Master of Engineering is considered to be a terminal degree in this field and typically takes two years to complete.
